Sick and travle

Well the kids have given me a cold right before we are to go to Arkansas for thanksgiving. Travel is going to be bad and trying to keep the kids roped up so they don't wonder off. As well as keeping my wife on track and not obsessing over small stupid stuff. I was thinking do penguins get colds, or do they get hots????

Hello again

I did find a new gener of music called Steam Punk which is most interesting. I did find Abney Park which is from my old home town of Seattle and Dr Steel which is funny. We are going away for a while and soon for thanksgiving back to Arkansas.

At it again

After spending the day doing most of nothing, one of my days off. I am forced to think about some of the simple happy things in life. I am planning what to do with our tax return already. Most of it will go to dig us out of more debt and canning supplies. We learned the hard way, being prepared for the worst is not a kook survivalist thing it is just smart. While we were stationed in Washington the main road into the area got 20 foot of snow. That shut everything down for a month. Even the army base was called level 3 or black road condition. Which means that even if you were stupid enough to make it to post they were turning people away. The main stores in the area quickly ran out of basics. We were lucky and did not have children at that time. Lets face it being prepared is just down right smart.

shut down of trucking

My best friend is in the trucking industry. The shippers are coming in to port half loaded or nearly empty. He said that he saw hundreds of ships sitting at dock that normally would be moving freight. For the first time in years he was sent away from the dock with no load. NO DELIVERY TO ANY STORE. Main stores that would be ramping up for Christmas is getting nothing in. The food delivery of produce has been cut by 20% now. This is not not not good. This is the start of the new depression. I am so scared for my children.

I don't agree with everything that is on every show but I would rather be aware of what is going on rather than being blind sided. For your review please see their sight. We must find and help sites like this before more of them are forced to close their doors

Must be one of those days.

Woke up with my back killing me. I guess I slept wrong. We went over to the store and got the groceries we needed for the next two weeks. Still don't know if the diet is working or not. For some reason I have been listening to a lot of jazz and blues. Stuff that people my age probably won't know. Thelonius Monk and Tom Waits. The day died down and we were at our friends house. While we were there a priest in training came over and I told him that i just did not feel right. I guess we did an impromptu confession session. I still don't feel right like a drag in my soul. Hopefully this will pass.

Sleep Pills and Beer

Just back up from the basement checking on my latest creation of beer. Yes I brew my own beer. This time it is a Russian Imperial Double Chocolate Stout. This is going to be a mean beer. Already I can smell the alcohol so it will meter out at about 12 to 14 percent. Taken the days last pain pill and I am for it to calm my back and knees so I can sleep.

So no one is willing to even try guessing the name of the artist or the album my little trivia question was from. So sad no one knows.

Life in blue

As I sit here listening to old blues and jazz records, looking and taking stock of my life I have to admit things could be worse. I live in a rented house which my disability check covers. We eat pretty good, not the best but we don't go hungry. My kids are dressed in good clothes. I can buy a magazine every now and then. We are able to make basics but not every bill gets paid on time. Life could be worse. The song Little Drop Of Poison still is great and makes me think life is a bitter sweet experience. Even if it were worse I think we still could manage and hack out a life. I do think we would be doing better if we get out of Pa.

As long as a certain presidential candidate does not get elected I think we would be fine. My Candidate got the boot really quick so I have no horse in the race.

Pain, bunnies, warm beer, cold women

can anyone tell me what album warm beer and cold women comes from? Then again the album, and yes it is those round big things that pop and hiss, was made even before I was born. Still it is a classic. Comes from a vary famious painting that almost everyone knows but very few know the name of the painting.

Due to the accident that got me out of the army, tonight is going to be long and painful. I took my tramadol and still hurt bad. There is a harvist mist that has settled over our little valley and is freezing while suspended in the air. Which means taking the wife and kids to their outing tomrrow is going to take more time to clean off the car.

Our bunny whos name is Genny is going haywire tonight for some reason. She is nurvous and acting scared. I personlay think there are ferral dogs out again that have come down to raid garbage cans making her nervious. If they come too close Ill have some fun with my little slingshot.

Seriously does anyone know the album or the artist? If you take the time to look it up please listen to it about three times before you make up your mind weather you like it or not.

I live in what could be the most backward place on earth. My local gas station still does not accept credit cards. We are living in a plastic card society. hateing birthdays and forgotten by people

Last year on my birthday it was just a bust. All the people I normally hang out with were all suddenly too busy to come over. Then the kids were after the cake and really did not understand what it meant. My wife was too tied up with her Philippine stuff to really care. I am not looking forward to this year because I think it will be the same all over again. It seems that I am every ones friend when they need help but no one cares.

Kids pets and dead fish

Well once again I am here infront of my computer wondering how my two little girls twisted me arround their little fingers. Some how we went to the flea market looking for good deals on clothes and stuff and came home with bunny rabbit. They did it again. The jewish part of my heart was warmed by the fact that both of my daughters begged and cried to the lady and she dropped the price and tossed in lots of stuff to make bunny happy for them to stop crying. I did finaly get to sneek off and go fishing. Which was not bad but I think I did more drinking coffe than catching fish. The weather has trurned harsh and did it fast.

Sleep, dog, and dead fish

A few days ago our clown fish died. He was the last living tenant of our fish bowl. We are packing it up and putting it away. I am thinking of starting a lizard home. The kids keep wanting a dog but i dont know if they are old enough for one. That and the fact the apartment where we live does not allow one.

Both of the girls found a color change lizard cute and he would not be that hard to keep.

It's sleeping weather again. Nice and cool during the night and not too hot during the day. I do miss these days because i work at night. oh well i can sleep during my days off.

Here we go again

Well it looks like the company I work for will be tossed out of this contract soon. Our field boss just got jail time and there are not enough spots open for this company to keep me on. So my plans are comming together faster than I thought. This is a scary step but also what needed to happen. Now it is just what new job field is stable and finding one I can work.

Greenhouse

Looks like I will be building a greenhouse. I was reading books at the book store looking for a value deal. I found a book about how to run a garden for all seasons. I am finding all the materials needed to build a decent green house. It will be good to have garden fresh veggies and fruit all year long.

coffe or tea

During my life I drank coffe for about 12 years. Last night I had a cup of coffe and it about killed my stomach. I was sick. Now after some persuasion from my wife and her friends I am trying tea. Hopefully this will be ok.

sleep

Due to the fact that I work nights the rest of my week really sucks. I can not sleep during the night anymore. I work about 36 hours a week to 40 but it is in three days. I either work two 16's with an 8,or two 12's with an 8. Late night radio and DVDs have become most of what I watch along with working on the computer.

I have been looking at natural sleep stuff but cant find anything that won't kill my pocketbook.

EWTN

Even if this is the catholic chanel on television I know I can leave this channel on television and not worry about the children. We have two small children and it is a daly battle over what they watch. I am a sci fi fan from the late 70's. I grew up watching Star Trek, Star Wars, and Dr Who. Looking back I think my parets did not do right by me by letting me watch these shows. My imagnation still runs wild. I hope I can certail my childrens tv so they grow up happy and healthy

Child not choice

Looking at my two children knowing that they are true blessings. Yes, even when they are being destructive and crazy. I can not think of ever talking of abortion during the time my wife was pregnant. I do understand that our faith sees abortion as a sin. There is a deeper reason, it is a life. We have changed the definition of death we still have not changed that of life.

Back to the gym.

Why do I have to choose the most demanding of all the sports to enjoy and try to get back into. What is wrong with me that I have to push me till I almost break. Went to the gym and started with something simple. Jump rope and push ups real easy I mean little girls with pigtails that should be on the Swiss miss box can jump rope all day. I guess a little girl could kick my butt all day long then. My shins are sore my rotater cuff feels like it is on fire and my trainer says I am doing good I don't feel it.

Please some one talk some sense into me. I am quickly approaching 40 with crushed vertebrate and two, yes two replaced knees. Someone talk some sense into me before I kill me.

Getting back in shape

I was depressed today about me not being able to stay under for more than a minit or so. I use to be real good at swimming and basic athletics. Then I went in the army and got real good. When the VA sidelined me I gained weight and lost so much ability that I am not happy with what I see. I need to get back to at least a healthy weight and minimum of ability.

Obama vs McCain

THIS IS JUST MY OPINION
As I watch the race, I can't help but make my opinion known. It seems to me that McCain is trying to fight ghosts of his early choices and distance himself from Pres. Bush. Obama thinks that he is running against a clone of Bush. But there are some problems with all of it.

1. Are you really looking at the person who will run or persona
2. how much change can the president really make
3. what are the changes that each party clames vs what they can deliver.

sleep time

Everyone is so sleepy. Being that we spent almost all afternoon and in to the evening at the local lake. The kids splashed and played and I tried to swim. Tomorrow we might go back for more play time. Tomorrow is the last day I have off. Thinking about it still sounds fun. But tonight they wont go to sleep. Why do kids have to fight sleep so much. They are tired My oldest fell asleep on the couch. Getting her to her bed is like pulling teeth.

Too late at night for this.

I am sitting in front of my computer listening to coast to coast and waiting for my back to stop hurting so I can sleep. While I was in the military I damaged my back and it has just gotten worse and worse. The VA did give me a tens unit and I am using it in hopes that it will help me finaly sleep. After so much work and lack of sleep I at least have tommrow off so I can rest up for my work.

Diet vs Regular Soda

I was thinking about this as I sat and sipped on a diet soda, is this good for me??? If a calorie is a calorie is a calorie then yes I am doing a good thing for me by switching to a diet product and reducing the number of calories. Here is the hook as I listened to the radio the "health expert" was saying that diet sodas were as bad for you or even worse than regular soda. One of the major sweetener makers uses chlorine to split the disachride of sugar to make it sweetener. Yes you are ingesting chloride. EEKS! that is scary! I could be killing me by doing something good for me. If anyone out there has an opinion leave a post Ill write back.

Boxing and time with grandpa

I remember when I was real young about 3 or 4 that Grandpa would hold me in his lap and we would watch boxing every saturday that it was on. Then growing up He taught all of us grandkids to box. This kept us in "fighting" condition. After he died I learned he was a drill instrctor for the army. I loved boxing because he did. All my life I have followed boxing and when I have a chance I go to our local boxing gym. When I leave the gym I keep promiceing my self that I will go more often.

Kitchen store and new pans

After stopping in at one of my favorite hangouts, (kitchen store) yes i am a geek, the owner told me about a report from the late 70's which did not get alot of attention. The coating of non-stick pans and skilets over time leach into your food and can chip and peal off. The effect is shocking. The coating goes to your kidneys and then due to is structure does huge ammounts of dammage. This stunned me. I could be hurting my children every time I cook. With some digging arround in the basement I dug out grandma's cast iron collection. This is a set that no one should be with out. Skilet, duchoven, deep skilet, and griddle. After some complaining from my wife all of our non-stick stuff went out the door and in the trash. What I found out was if you season the cast iron right it creates a natural non stick surfice.

Sleep problems

The bed that I sleep in is getting in bad repair. The bed is sagging. After a few years of ware and tare the center of the bed is sagging lower than the bed edging. With the problems with my back and knees I need to get a mattress that holds my back well enough and wont kill my pocket book. I am thinking about using a futon (japanese) mattress with a cheep or ok frame. This should not put me back too much but it still is going to hurt. I can't sleep in bed with my wife because of the schedual I keep. There is a problem with temp control between me and my wife. She is a tropical princess and I am a winter person. If I could go and write a check I would go to my friends store and get what he has called the "Ultimate Sleep Center". That would be a 11" futon and a very pretty sofa/bed frame.

Heat

I am looking for a way to heat part of the house. Kind of like the english way of wintering. Heating only the rooms that my daughters and wife sleep in. There are many ways to do this but there are only a few that could save me money. What I am thinking is about is getting an electric heater that could keep their rooms warm but the rest of the house would stay at about 50 or 65. During the day running the heat enough to keep the chill out of the air. During the night keeping their room with the heater.

If anyone knows what that quote came from Ill be impressed. I am stuck at work for another 12 hours. I am thinking back of where everything went haywire. I am addicted to coffee, chocolate, children's Easter candy and camping. Let's face it I am pathetic. My children which are pictured here and here are both the love of my life and the bane of my existence.I am paying off my bills as fast as I can and looking into fixing or rigging up something for heat for the winter so we are not socked with the lovely 350 heating bill for a mid month expense. Beyond all that my life is great!!!!

COB

In military terms that is close of business, or final formation. I am about to hand over an empty building to the next guard. I cant wait to go home and get some sleep. Once again to be back in about 5 hours to take over for my next shift. I work about 36-40 hours in 3 days. The rest of the week is spent teaching my daughters stuff they need to know in order for them to go to kindergarten. Next I think Ill teach them how to eat paste.

looking out the window at hell

It is way to early and I am still at work. Having to pull a double followed by two 12's the next two days. I am looking out on what could be called the most depressing sight I think I could ever imagine. The window is just a plane sheet of black. Rain and more rain. Siting out here in the middle of nowhere with the closest town about 20 miles away. Because of Pa nothing is open at night. Pa has a wired way of doing business that everything shuts down about 7pm. I need to be back down south or in the west. I am use to having things open for 24hours or at least till 1am. Even in my old home town in Arkansas there was something to do at night. I miss having the options of being able to call or run out and get stuff.

This job is not paying enough and even if they pull us up to the promised 40 hours I don't know if we could make it on this. I have been told that this is as good as it gets for this area. What happened to the American dream??? I mean relay, what happened. If you work like a dog you might be able to make you rent and utilities and don't even think about saving.

Loosing weight.

When I was new in the army this was not so hard. We ran about 5 miles every other day. Now with a bad back and replaced knees it is a lot harder than I expected. Reduce caloric intake and up the exercise is what we were taught in way back. Now there are so many choices for diet that it is making my head spin. Does anyone have a weight loss program that actually works without paying heavily for pre packaged food????

Battle Plans Stage 1

1st Loose Weight. Have to reduce my weight by at least 100lbs.
2nd Get re-trained. Either by my self or get someone else to pay for school.
3rd Start working to being debt free and wipe out the credit crunch.

if I can get these three at least started then I will be in better position to start Stage 2

Thinking of what happened....

I am at work sitting here in an empty building watching the clock on my 16 hour shift. Was life supose to be this boring or so pointless. I work for a security company who I would not trust my goldfish to. I am always behind in my bills because all the good jobs in the area have been outsourced. I went from making about 30 an hour down to 10 in three years. I have a collage degree and I think i would have done better if I had hung it up my first year and drove a truck. I am overweight because of my broken back and replaced knees that the army gave me. They never tell you that you will be tossed away when you sign up. The army was a great thing for me but I think I should have done something else insead of electronics. We are stuck in Pa for the time being. But things are going to change because I am going to make them change.
